Safe With You

Overview

Safe With You is a child safety training course for licensed childcare providers in Nebraska. The program meets Nebraska Department of Education Early Childhood Training Center and Department of Health and Human Services requirements under Nebraska Revised Statute 43-2606.

This course helps childcare professionals understand how to create safer environments for children by addressing safe sleep practices, abusive head trauma prevention, and child abuse and neglect awareness.

Participants receive a Safe With You certification valid for five years.

What You’ll Learn

Participants will learn how to:

• Create and maintain safe sleep practices for infants
• Reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and accidental suffocation
• Understand the dangers and long-term effects of shaken baby syndrome, also known as abusive head trauma
• Develop strategies to prevent abusive head trauma
• Recognize signs of child abuse and neglect
• Understand reporting requirements and how to make a report
• Support families and help prevent child abuse through protective practices
