Safety, Health, and Environmental Professional (SHEP)

Expand Your Expertise in Safety, Environmental Compliance, and Risk Management

The Safety, Health & Environmental Professional (SHEP) Certificate is a nationally recognized credential for safety professionals who want to broaden their knowledge beyond workplace safety and OSHA compliance.

Developed by the Great Plains OSHA Education Center, the SHEP Certificate is delivered by the National Safety Council – Nebraska Chapter, the only authorized host site in Nebraska. This advanced certificate builds on the Certified Safety & Health Official (CSHO) Certificate by adding training in environmental compliance and risk management, preparing you to manage safety, health, and environmental responsibilities across your organization.

To earn the SHEP Certificate, you must complete a CSHO Certificate, one environmental compliance course, one risk management course, and one approved elective.

The Great Plains OSHA Education Center will accept one Certificate of Completion from another OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC) outside of Region VII toward the SHEP Certificate requirements.
